Gospel-Centered Missions and Evangelism at Calvary Baptist Church
When Jesus said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age”, we take it as a command, not a suggestion. At Calvary Baptist Church in Staunton, VA, we are driven by our mission “to know Him and to make Him known.”
Empowered by the Spirit
As Acts 1:8 reminds us: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
We see our “Jerusalem” as Staunton and our local community, “Judea” as Virginia, “Samaria” as the United States, and the “ends of the earth” as the global mission field. Our approach is both local and global, seeking to share the gospel faithfully wherever God has placed us.
How We Serve Locally and Globally
We accomplish this through strategic partnerships with local mission organizations, church planting initiatives, and support for missionaries across Virginia, the United States, and the world.
In our valley alone, we partner with more than 10 local missions to serve effectively and faithfully as the hands and feet of Jesus. Current partners include the Love, INC and Comfort Care for Women’s Health Center, among others.
Serving Our Community Through Word and Deed
God has strategically placed us in this community, and we aim to serve both spiritually and practically, living out the gospel by loving our neighbors and making disciples locally and globally.
OUR STATE
Our Church Plants
Calvary Baptist Church is a church that believes that the local church is God’s idea and that God has chosen to bless the church as they carry-out His message. Instead of trying to become a mega-church in the Shenandoah Valley, nearly 10 years ago the leadership of the church decided to grow through church planting.
Village Church
- Village Church is the most recent church plant to be sent out from CBC. Their Lead Pastor is Todd Yoder and they meet in Churchville, VA.
