A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its two scriptural offices are that of pastor/elder/overseer and deacon. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.
The New Testament speaks also of the church as the Body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.

Pastor Stewart became the Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church on January 15, 2017. He and his wife Janice have three children and four grandchildren. Stewart graduated from Columbia Biblical Seminary in 1984 with a Master of Divinity in Theology with an emphasis in North American Ministry. He also worked on his D. Andy grew up in Maryland near Baltimore. Throughout his life, God has made music a key part of how he looks at the world. Andy sang in choirs, directed choirs, and accompanied choirs for many years. He taught elementary music in public schools until God called him to minister full-time in His Church. Andy is passionate about helping others worship the Lord Jesus Christ through music. Lance grew up in Nebraska and came to faith as a college freshman, where his local church provided spiritual discipleship that sparked his aspiration to pastoral ministry. He holds degrees from Shepherds Theological Seminary and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before joining Calvary, Lance served as an elder at a church plant in Kansas City, where he helped foster spiritual growth through leading, preaching, and teaching. Corey was born and raised right here in the Shenandoah Valley. His desire is to see the next generation come to know and love Jesus Christ.
