When Jesus said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age….” We this as a command, not as a suggestion. We are driven by the fact that we are called “to Know Him and to Make Him Known.”
Acts 1:8 says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
We understand that our “Jerusalem” is Staunton- VA and our community, our “Judea” is the state of Virginia, our “Samaria” is the United States, and finally our “ends of the earth” is just that… everything else. We do not have an either/or strategy of carrying the Good News of Jesus Christ. We have a BOTH/ AND view in that we are to reach people locally and globally with the Gospel message. We seek to accomplish that through partnering with local mission organizations, local church planting, our giving that reaches missionaries across our state, across our country, and across our world and through numerous other strategic partnerships.
Our Church Plants
Calvary Baptist Church is a church that believes that the local church is God’s idea and that God has chosen to bless the church as they carry-out His message. Instead of trying to become a mega-church in the Shenandoah Valley, nearly 10 years ago the leadership of the church decided to grow through church planting.
Church United
